It's cold, wet an' dark, it's the time of the year

that turns your head in a downward spin

promise a 'cold, wet an' dark winter time blues'

will set in

 

starin' at your TV, sippin' some leftover wine

hoping it will turn for the better and...

another year  will be standing guard

I discover a ray of light and... my

darkness is surprised

it is sunshine it reappears, clears up my sky,

clears up my mind and for a moment...my 'cold,

wet and dark blues' disappear are out of sight

with that other year, a new year singin' its song

Well,

I thought, heck this here guitar

I don't play on it no more, so I'll give it

to her for Christmass to come

 

so I did, I walked over, yepp to all her surprise,

goin' out of her head, out of her mind

she still was that child in time, never saw the kid

in her so very pleased

 

I don't mind admittin' my glasses went foggy on me

so I turned, she had me beat, yes sir

Buried in time

well,
lookin', searchin', wondering
lookin' for answers buried in
time

unexpected findin', and yet
not wantin' to find those lost
memories blowin' your mind

yet,
there it is, staring me in the face
findin' you again I see myself in
your face

same look, same smile, twinkle in the eye
it's all there buried in time, somethin' left
behind

yes,
not admitting, but it moves me

nothin' can come of this, it should stay

Sleep

I go to sleep
when the candles die
it's quite late
but I don't mind
as long I'm sound of mind

and my sleep is a quiet one
I'm fully relaxed
I dream of yesterday
they give me a hiding place

I awake
with questions in my mind
but they don't mind
I let them ride
and put them aside

I still sleep in the present
and I don't mind
let the past ride
let it pass me by

sometimes, life throws at me ev'rything it's got
sometimes, I'm not worried I've dealt with a lot
sometimes, life's just that bit too short
and ties my weary mind in a knot

when, I feel like resting my weary bones
and...
my bothered soul's sounding its retreat
when life's become too difficult for me

just for a moment or two before I blow
my lonely horn in support of its victory
