Well,

I thought, heck this here guitar

I don't play on it no more, so I'll give it

to her for Christmass to come

 

so I did, I walked over, yepp to all her surprise,

goin' out of her head, out of her mind

she still was that child in time, never saw the kid

in her so very pleased

 

I don't mind admittin' my glasses went foggy on me

so I turned, she had me beat, yes sir

she sure had me beat

The aftermath

she was one great woman
never said she'd leave
kept me satisfied in love
with so little I was pleased

now she's gone away
feelin' out of place
I never broke the peace
yet, she never left me

she decided to call it a day
used me as a puppet
with whom she would play
a toy thrown in to the shade

I'm stuck with my love
thought she wouldn't leave
my heart misses its beat
it won't bring her back to me

so I'm siiting here
with a wasted life
with a pain I can bear
it'll heal in time

packing my suitcase
haven't got much left
collecting all my things
don't think I'll be back
